All that went out the window when Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama on Meet the Depressed...I mean Meet the Press on Sunday morning. Powell's endorsement was the final nail in the coffin for McCain's campaign--it's over, see ya...the tidal wave of support that Powell's endorsement will generate makes a victory for McCain unattainable.
Unfortunately, Powell's assessment that Sarah Palin is not qualified and that the negative tone of the Republican campaign is the same old same old will strike a cord with many voters.
Some say it took us four years of Jimmy Carter for us to get Ronald Reagan. Maybe four years of Barack Obama will have the same result. Only time will tell.

You forgot to mention that your old friend feels the same as the former general and secretary of state. I'm sure my endorsement led you to believe that a McCain victory was long shot.
While I respect you opinion, it was the Powell endorsement that tipped this thing---I still think you're trying to get a rise our of me by claiming that you'll vote for Obama--
Surely Palin's appearance on SNL had to help some - don't you think?
The Powell endorsement certainly doesn't impress me. His endorsement at this late date doesn't show any leadership on his part. If he wanted to lead this entire country into supporting Barack Obama, where was he when Obama needed some help right after he got back from Europe?
Powell's endorsement did nothing for me. What has he actually done beside quit on the Bush Administration. I sure hope that no one actually thinks he was anything more than a political General leading soldiers from the offices in DC. The real question is who is H. Norman supporting?
RNM
Where to begin? Palin couldn't carry a purple state if God appeared in a burning bush and made a special request -- let alone a blue state -- she's cute; she's a joke to most of us with an i.q. over 35.
The difference between those of us on the left and those of you on the right, though, is more fundamental. Powell spoke for six minutes un-interrupted answering the question thoughtfully and completely as to exactly why no person who considered the well-being of the country rather than a tired, failed ideology could possibly support a republican this year -- especially one making the scurrilous, empty statements the current bunch are making.
And then, we were met by the revolting Limbaugh's pronouncements -- and the laughingly silly: "What has he actually done beside quit on the Bush Administration" posted below, followed by: "he was anything more than a political General leading soldiers from the offices in D.C." Those of us on the left always honored what he did -- even when we disagreed with him. And, many of us agree with what came to be known as the "Powell Doctrine:" "do not attempt to have a fair fight, overwhelm the enemy, kill it, declare victory, come home." If the current administration had listened to him instead of ideologues and cheapskates, the condition of our nation would be considerably different -- and yet, "Morvatz" assaults his character -- wanna know why you're probably going to lose this year? Go look in the mirror.

Have a nice day.
I can cut and paste too.
"Poll Suggests U.S. Troops Support McCain 3-1
A Military Times poll indicates landslide support for John McCain, who captures 68 percent of the military vote to Barack Obama's 23 percent."
Let's let those who fight the war decide whether they should, "Come home," as Hodge said or "kill it" first.
Morvatz, forgive me for not looking down here for a few days. We could have dueling cut and pastes -- I write the great majority of what I post though -- and make it clear when I do not:

I have several relatives in the military, and all of them, all, support Obama. Most of their friends do as well. My brother's son has been to Iraq four tours and is scheduled to return in April. My family has always served. However, the real number to garner where most people in the miliatary are at this year politically is pretty basic: Obama has collected six dollars to every one McCain has collected from people in the military -- a fact.
66% of military in Iraq support Obama:

Finally, we do not live in a military totalitarian state -- the military answers to civilian leadership -- because we are free. Occasionally, read a book or, God forbid, The Constitution. Heh, if we had listened to General Shenseki rather than firing him, then this discussion would be academic. The problem was: Bush listened to who he wanted to listen to for ideological reasons and then decieved us -- a fact. You know, as Bush was committing treason and approving of the outing of a CIA agent -- Clinton lied about felatio and got impeached; Bush lied about nuclear war and committed treason in undermining the CIA and you want to vote for his sidekick McCain-- heh.
Hugs,
Nick
