I thought Gwen Ifill was masterful and balanced in moderating the 2004 VP debate between Dick Cheney and John Edwards. I have an extremely high opinion of her and know that she will probably be fair during this year's debate. However, in such a high level debate and with the stakes so high, the blatant appearance of impropriety present here should prompt her immediate recusal from moderating this year's debate. And if the shoe was on the other foot and the selected moderator was a conservative (like that would really happen in the first place) who was writing a book entitled, "Shattering the Glass Ceiling: Sarah Palin Paves Path for Future Women," the liberal media would be howling at the moon.

No, say it ain't so Gwen? VP Debate Tainted Before it Begins
This is absolutely ridiculous. On the eve of the vice presidential debate, word has come that the moderator of the debate, Gwen Ifill is in the process of writing a book entitled, "Breakthrough: Politics and Race In the Age of Obama" which is set to be released on inauguration day.

Her masterful job included belittling VP Cheney's comment related to not being able to appropriately respond to the Halliburton question within the (30) second time allotment.
As for tonight's debate, the smart money says she has already provided Sen. Biden's team with the questions. It is just their way of even the playing field after their perception Sen. McCain received similar treatment for the Rick Warren debate.
Her publisher will no doubt demand she do everything possible to support an Obama victory. Otherwise the inaugural day release would be somewhat overshadowed.
I think the world will be watching Ms. Ifill. The fact that the media revealed that she is writing this book may work in Palin's favor. If she is blatantly unfair to Palin, the VP candidate will have the public's sympathy.
The amusing thing you all left out: everyone in both campaigns knew all about the book when the terms were negotiated for the debate; therefore, blame McCain and his negotiators.
Heh, Makes me feel confident he could get good terms with Putin, huh?
Anyway, Pallin said her talking points and refused to answer questions.
Wanna hear a joke? Sarah Pallin.
